Factory Manager - Wiscasset, Maine

This will be based in our Wiscasset, Maine location.  

The Opportunity

The Factory Manager has overall responsibility for activities at the Wiscasset, Maine Manufacturing Facility. The Factory Manager provides strategic planning, leadership and guidance for improving the organizational structure, resource allocation, processes and performance of the business and steers the organizational culture. As leader of the Local Management Team, the Factory Manager drives the team toward organizational and site specific mission, vision and objectives demonstrating high performance behaviours through collaboration and exemplary personal standards. The Factory Manager keeps the team informed on the financial conditions of the overall business and participates as a team member by providing key financial, strategic and analytical input to the local team and required Corporate functions.  

 

 

Essential Functions: 

    • Drives organizational performance. 
    • Ensures business policy, resource allocation, and performance metrics are clearly communicated throughout the organization. 
    • Drives the development of the  management team toward organizational excellence and performance improvement.  
    • Supports and demonstrates the high performance behaviors set by the company. 
    • Ensures budgetary and financial targets are met or exceeded. 
    • Ensures all employees are kept informed including participating in meetings (quarterly at a minimum) to discuss global and Wiscasset site specific achievements, objectives, financials, etc. 
    • Participates as an active member of the local Management Team. 
    • Leads the effort to implement best practices within job scope; expected to participate in activities designed to improve production, quality and EH&S. 
    • Reports to, and works well with, the US Manufacturing Director to optimize site and overall US Mfg. performance.

Performs other related duties as required and assigned.  

 

Supervisory Responsibilities: 

This position manages the local Management Team and is responsible for the performance management and hiring of each member.  

 

Competencies: 

    • Excellent knowledge of manufacturing process and operations. 
    • Excellence knowledge of SIOP/ production planning processes.  
    • Solid experience in Project Management and/or process development management, ideally from industrial engineering environment.  
    • Very good knowledge in LEAN and Industrial engineering. 
    • Ability to drive and implement change through creativity and out of the box thinking.  
    • A strong action and operational focus in order to make things happen.  
    • Energy, drive and passion for results. Experience in Design Change and Design transfer activities.
    • Ability to drive the financial performance of the site.  
    • Ability to make well-reasoned decisions, both independently and as part of a team. 
    • Ability to effectively lead a team and manage employee performance. 
    • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. 
       
      Education and Experience: 
    • Minimum 5 years’ experience in production leadership role or equivalent function or role. 
    • Experiencing from managing production of 30+ employees is a requirement.  
    • Solid manufacturing, machine and operation process experience. 
    • Demonstrated  capabilities and experience in deploying LEAN, problem-solving, and root cause analysis.  
    • Experience in working in regulated environment, preferably medical device manufacturing (Pharma, food and Aerospace is ok). 
    • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial engineering or related field, preferred. 
    • 10 or more years of experience managing manufacturing operations/teams strongly preferred. 
    • Knowledge of industrial engineering, human resources laws and regulations, and employee relations skills.
