Here’s what the current Head of Environment and Health & Safety has to say about the opportunity:

 

  • You’ll collaborate with a multi-functional team. You’ll have to ensure that all activities carried out within Belgian sites comply with EHS legislation and followed standards.
  • Contribute to the strategic direction of the site as part of Site Management Team.
  • Through effective coaching, ensure all incidents are thoroughly investigated, documented and root causes identified to implement robust corrective actions.
  • Provide guidance and leadership to manage and improve the energy consumption on the site.
  • Manage EHS spending in line with budget guidelines.

Key Responsabilities:

 

  • Ensures all incidents are investigated in due course and administered properly, check that appropriate countermeasures are applied to remove the risk of reoccurrence.
  • Act as SIPP (Internal service for prevention and protection) for Belgian Sites - Be an effective member of CPPT (Safety Committee).
  • Supervises H&S, internal fire brigade, emergency preparedness and fire prevention processes and services on site to keep an efficient operation while meeting all legal requirements.
  • Promotes and manages Risk Assessment on all workstations and for all employees.
  • Act as a contact person for communication with state administration bodies regarding EHS compliance to legislation.
  • Ensure development and implementation of H&S prevention plans (yearly & global) for Belgian sites, in cooperation with management and CPPT.
  • Drive health and safety activities as part of continuous improvement (KPI / Action plans).
  • As part of the global EHS team, benchmark the Waremme EHS activity and performance against other internal and external manufacturing locations in order to share best practice from within and outside MHC.
  • Support all levels in the organization in EHS matters in order to ensure compliance, understanding and involvement.
  • Assure planning and coordination of EHS activities in order to constantly remain in compliance with corporate and local requirements.
  • Maintain the certification of the site for EHS applicable standards.
  • Implement, sustain, improve practices and procedures related to EHS Sustainability programs.
  • Promote a good Sustainability and EHS understanding in the organization in order to achieve the EHS strategy/program, policies and objectives.
  • Develop, lead and support implementation and follow up of the local EHS program activities as part of the overall sustainability strategic roadmap in order to achieve progress towards sustainability objectives and targets and achieve our EHS vision of zero injuries, waste and harm.

 

Competencies and Experience

  • Easy to communicate with different stakeholders
  • Team spirit and capability to lead great projects
  • Well organized
  • Fluent in English and easy with IT tools
  • EHS legislation and standards
  • Formal certified education in Occupational Health and Safety.
  • Some industry experience as EHS practitioner
  • Experienced in auditing
