Job Description
Chief Accountant Belgium

Make your next move matter.

At Mölnlycke, we believe that real impact starts with people. People who are bold enough to challenge the status quo. People who care deeply for their work, their colleagues, and the world around them. People who know exactly why they do what they do.

As a global medical solutions company, we design and deliver innovative products and services across wound care, operating room solutions, gloves, and antiseptics. Our mission is to advance performance in healthcare by supporting professionals, improving outcomes, and making a difference where it matters most.

Where You'll Make a Difference

Mölnlycke is looking for a Chief Accountant  to join our Finance team, based in Waremme, Belgium.

This is a senior, hands-on role at the heart of our Belgian and Dutch finance operations. You will own the full accounting and statutory reporting cycle.

Beyond the numbers, you'll be a trusted expert and a genuine right-hand to the Finance & Administration Director, stepping in confidently to ensure continuity when needed.

Here's how you'll make an impact in this role:

  • Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual closings in line with Belgian GAAP and IFRS Group standards, including reconciliation between frameworks
  • Prepare and submit statutory financial statements, corporate income tax returns, and VAT declarations directly on Belgian administration platforms and the National Bank of Belgium
  • Gradually bring statutory and tax compliance activities fully in-house
  • Submit monthly reporting and disclosures into COGNOS and other Group reporting tools
  • Act as the primary contact for auditors, tax authorities, and Group Finance on all IFRS reporting matters
  • Implement and maintain the Group's internal control framework and ensure key controls are in place
  • Prepare tax packs, analyse permanent and temporary differences, and apply country specific adjustments
  • Ensure full reconciliation of balance sheet accounts and resolve aged items promptly
  • Drive continuous improvement in accounting processes and reporting quality, working closely with GBS teams
  • Collaborate on financial strategy, rolling forecasts, performance analysis, and cash flow management
  • Visit the Berchem office twice a month to build relationships with local finance stakeholders and ensure a strong understanding of the market operations

What You Bring

Must-haves:

  • Academic degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent
  • 5–10 years in senior accounting or audit roles, ideally with Big Four or in-house experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Proven hands-on experience filing corporate tax returns and statutory accounts on Belgian regulatory platforms (Belgian administration and National Bank of Belgium)
  • Strong command of Belgian GAAP and IFRS, with the ability to reconcile between the two frameworks independently
  • Fluent in French and English (spoken and written); Dutch is a strong asset
  • Proficient in SAP; experience with COGNOS or equivalent group reporting tools is a plus
  • High degree of rigour: you are meticulous about the quality and accuracy of externally published figures
  • Autonomous and self-sufficient: you're comfortable being the expert in the room and working independently on complex technical matters
  • Strong communicator: able to engage confidently with Group Finance, local teams, auditors, and cross-functional stakeholders

Nice-to-haves:

  • Experience with process automation or ERP system upgrades
  • Familiarity with Dutch statutory reporting requirements

What You'll Get

Your growth and development

You'll gain experience that matters, stepping into a role where your expertise shapes how finance operates at a local and international level.

Flexibility, wellbeing, and benefits

  • Hybrid working: up to 2 days of homeworking per week
  • Permanent contract
  • Competitive salary and benefits package aligned with local policy

Be part of a culture built on trust, care, and shared ownership, where your contributions are recognised and your development is taken seriously.
