At Mölnlycke, we believe that real impact starts with people. People who are bold enough to challenge the status quo. People who care deeply for their work, their colleagues, and the world around them.
People who know exactly why they do what they do.

As a global medical solutions company, we design and deliver innovative products and services across wound care, operating room solutions, gloves, and antiseptics. Our mission is to advance performance in healthcare by supporting professionals, improving outcomes, and making a difference where it matters most.

In Wound Care, we manage the materials that underpin our product portfolio.

Why this role matters

We’re looking for a Senior Material Developer to join our Wound Care R&D organization in Gothenburg.

This is a senior technical role where you’ll take technical ownership of material solutions across our wound care portfolio, ensuring that materials are compliant, high-performing, secure in supply, and fit for customer needs.

You’ll act as a subject matter expert within your material area(s), working across suppliers, Product Development, Quality, Procurement, Manufacturing, and other key stakeholders to drive material improvements and strengthen our technical capabilities.

This role combines deep technical expertise with strong stakeholder leadership and collaboration, making it an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys influencing beyond their own area of responsibility.

Where you’ll make a difference

In this role, you will:

  • Lead the development, implementation, and optimisation of material solutions used in our product portfolio
  • Own technical requirements, specifications, and documentation within your material area
  • Drive material-related activities in development and change projects
  • Partner closely with cross-functional stakeholders including suppliers, Procurement, Supplier Quality, Product Development, Manufacturing, and Project Management teams
  • Identify and drive opportunities to improve performance, sustainability, quality, supply security, and cost efficiency
  • Monitor industry developments, emerging technologies, and material innovations
  • Build and maintain strong internal and external networks relevant to the material area
  • Coach and support colleagues while contributing to the development of best practices and ways of working

What you’ll bring

We’re looking for an experienced material development professional who combines strong technical expertise with excellent collaboration and communication skills. You’ll bring:

  • Degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, Life Sciences, or a related field
  • Extensive industry experience within material development, ideally within medical devices
  • Experience working in a regulated industry, preferably medical devices
  • Strong understanding of material technologies such as polymeric materials or related material areas
  • Experience developing technical requirements, specifications, and other material-related documentation
  • Knowledge of design control, PLM systems, quality systems, and regulatory requirements related to medical devices
  • Ability to influence stakeholders across multiple functions and levels
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Fluent English, written and spoken

You’ll stand out if you also bring:

  • Experience working with suppliers and external partners
  • Knowledge of design control, quality systems, or regulatory requirements related to medical devices
  • Experience leading technical initiatives, workshops, or change projects
  • Exposure to intellectual property, patents, or technology scouting activities

What you’ll get

Your growth and development

This role offers the opportunity to combine technical depth with cross-functional collaboration to drive improvements, including developing our ways of working with materials.

  • Senior technical ownership within a global medical technology company
  • Exposure to cross-functional and international stakeholder networks
  • Opportunity to influence future material strategies and ways of working
  • Collaborative environment with highly skilled technical experts
  • Ongoing professional development opportunities

Flexibility, wellbeing and benefits

  • Hybrid working arrangements
  • Competitive compensation and benefits package
  • Inclusive and collaborative culture focused on innovation and continuous improvement
