This Atlanta-based role is a unique opportunity to shape the strategy, portfolio, and roadmap for one of Mölnlycke’s most critical growth areas—while bringing meaningful innovations to clinicians, caregivers, and patients.
The Opportunity
As the R&D Director, Pressure Injuries Prevention, you will be end‑to‑end accountable for the U.S. development portfolio within this category. You will:
- Build and lead a small, high‑performing local team of Product Developers.
- Actively drive the definition of the Pressure Injuries Prevention roadmap—short‑ and long‑term and expedite execution.
- Deliver innovative, commercially viable solutions across physical products and emerging service‑based prevention models that integrate digital insights and clinical protocols.
- Collaborate closely with cross‑functional partners including Marketing, New Solution Innovation, Digital Product Enablement, Regulatory, Clinical, and Global R&D leadership.
- Strengthen Mölnlycke’s leadership position in the U.S. market and contribute to future global expansion.

What You’ll Do:
Strategic Leadership & Portfolio Ownership
- Actively contribute to the definition of the R&D strategy for Pressure Injuries Prevention.
- Own and continuously evolve the category roadmap.
- Ensure strong strategic IP, unique value propositions, and a competitive product and service portfolio.
Product & Solution Innovation
- Translate customer and market needs into clear product and service requirements.
- Lead concept development and engineering and ensure pre-clinical studies and commercialization efforts.
- Identify technology opportunities and collaborate with internal and external partners.
Project & People Leadership
- Build and mentor a new U.S.-based team of Product Developers.
- Ensure project delivery aligned with scope, quality, timelines, and budget.
- Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Marketing to ensure deep customer centricity.
- Engage with KOLs, clinical stakeholders, and cross-functional teams.
- Serve as a key contributor within the Product & Solution Development Leadership Team.

What You Bring
Must‑Have Expertise
- Advanced degree (PhD, MD, or equivalent) in Engineering or Life Sciences.
- 10+ years of R&D experience in medical devices or pharmaceuticals; wound care preferred.
- Strong technical expertise in materials, product development, and design control.
- Proven track record in driving innovation from concept to commercialization.
- Deep understanding of pressure injury pathophysiology and prevention approaches.
- Familiarity with the U.S. healthcare and reimbursement environment.
- Strong leadership, team‑building, and stakeholder‑management skills.
- Excellent strategic thinking, business acumen, and communication abilities.
Preferred (Nice‑to‑Have)
- Experience in service‑based prevention models or ecosystem‑of‑care concepts.
- Understanding of sustainability opportunities in medical device design.
- Exposure to regulatory and industry standards relevant to wound care.
